Plan Edit Wizard
Plan configuration and prices are changed with plan edit wizards. To run a
plan edit wizard, click Plans in the Info menu. In the list of
plans that appears, click the name of the plan you would like to edit.
For most plans, Edit Wizard guides you through the following steps:
- step 1:
- include or exclude particular resources;
- make them active by default;
- configure settings such as duration of trial period,
credit limit, money-back period, define default type
of IP, etc.
- step 2:
- change setup and monthly prices for the resources
included in the plan for the default billing
period (1 month), define the amount of free resources
etc.
- step 3 and the subsequent:
- change setup and recurrent prices for the resources
included in the plan for the actual billing periods,
define the amount of free resources etc. The number
of subsequent steps depends on the actual
billing periods for this plan.
Step 1
Select which resources will be included in the plan:

- Include: check the box to have the resource created
for every user subscribing for the plan. If you leave this
box unchecked, users of this plan will be unable to take advantage
of this resource.
- Activate: check the box to have the resource up and running for every
user immediately after signup. If you leave this box unchecked, the resource
will be down by default, but users will be able to activate it when necessary
and be charged for it only at the moment of activation.
IMPORTANT:
1. In the Domain types section, Service Domain should be included only
for system plan. For user-level plans, leave this Include box unchecked.
2. If you exclude any resources that are already in use by some users, they'll
remain functional but become inaccessible from the system control panel interface.
3. Some of the plan's resources are integral to the system and can not be excluded
from the plan, even though they are not laid out in the Plan Edit Wizards.
For more information on plan resources, please refer to Creating
New Plans.
Step 2 (prices)
Set the default billing period prices for the resources you
included in the plan on the first step.
*Notice: starting with version 2.08, validation for
prices doesn't distinguish between commas ","
and points ".". You should keep it in mind
when setting prices under a custom local encoding. In different
encodings, commas (points) can be used before the fractions
(£2.95) or before a number of hundreds (€.1,320).
PRICES:
- Setup Fee: the single-time amount payable at
the moment when a unit of a specific resource is purchased.
For some resources setup fee is also charged when the
quota is changed (please refer to How
Are My Customers Billed?)
*Setup Fee changes apply only to new users signing
up under the edited plan.
- Monthly (i.e. recurrent fee): the
amount payable
- at the beginning of each billing period for the resource
purchased;
- when the suspended account is resumed;
- when a user changes the plan or switches to another
billing period which in its turn opens a new billing period.
*Monthly Fee changes apply only to new users signing
up under the edited plan.
- Extra (i.e. usage): payment for
every resource unit used over the set quota
- at the end of the billing period;
- when the account is suspended;
- when a user changes the plan or switches to another
billing period and the current billing period is closed.
*Extra changes apply both to existing and new users.
- Free: the number of resource units users will
initially get for free.
NOTICE: With some resources free units are not offered as the resources
can't be calculated.
*Free changes apply both to existing and new users.
Step 3 (and the subsequent)
Set the prices for the actual payment interval(s) specified at the top of the
form for the resources included in the first step. The prices must be entered
for the whole billing period. For example, if you are setting prices for a 6
month billing period, you should enter the amount you would like to charge for
all 6 months.
See how to add different actual
billing periods.

Summary Traffic
Free |
GBs |
e.g: 10 |
- free traffic you allow your users to run up to during one month
(not billing period!)
- free makes up initial traffic limit for month
|
e.g.:
by the end of the month a user runs up 8 GBs - it keeps within the 10 GB
limit and therefore he pays nothing. |
Recurrent |
$ per 1 GB |
e.g: 2 |
- this is what users pay for each GB of increased initial traffic limit
- set per month
- charged for the whole billing period
* If later you increase the Free so it covers additionally bought
traffic limit GBs, user isn't charged anything for them.
|
e.g.:
Two month billing period starts on the 1st of March. On the 15th of March
a user decides to increase his initial traffic limit and buys 2 additional
GB. User pays $6 ($2 for a half of March and $4 for April). His traffic
limit now becomes 12 GBs = 10 free GBs + 2 additional GBs
* Later you increase Free to 13 GBs. In that case for next billing
period user isn't charged anything for these 2 additional GBs as his 13
GBs Free covers that amount. However in user CP traffic limit will
still shows up as 12 GBs.
|
Extra |
$ per 1 GB |
e.g: 5 |
- this is what users pay for each GB run over the traffic limit
- calculated and charged (A) at the end of the month or (B) when changing
traffic limit.
* In B case the traffic limit is prorated to the time from the last traffic
reset.
|
e.g.:
A: by the end of the month a user with 10 GB traffic limit runs up 12 GBs
- user pays $10 for 2 GBs run over the traffic limit
B: on the tenth day from the beginning of the one month billing period with
12 GB traffic limit user runs up 5 GBs and decides to change his traffic
limit. His traffic is reset to 0 and he is charged $5 (traffic limit prorated
to 10 days makes up 4 GBs. Thus it turns up he went 1 GB over limit). |
* The pricing for extra traffic is fractional, per KB. So if you set the price
of $1/GB, and user used only 10 MB, he will be charged $0.01.
Traffic Reset
Traffic is reset to "0"
a) each month from the beginning of billing period
b) each month from the time traffic limit was changed
c) at the end of the billing period
e.g.:
Billing period started on March 10. It will be reset to "0" on April
10.
Two month billing period started on March 10. User changed his traffic limit
on the 20 March. It will be reset to "0" on April 20, the next reset
will occur on May 10 (at the end of the billing period).
Traffic Calculations.
Traffic Calculations occur at the end of each month and billing period. Traffic
calculations don't include the traffic run up over the day of calculations.
e.g.: 3 month billing period was opened on March 1. In a month on March
31 traffic is calculated for 29 February -30 March. On April 14 traffic limit
was changed. The same day traffic was calculated for 31 March - 13 April. In
a month on 13 May traffic was calculated for 14 April - 12 May. At the end of
the billing period on 31 May traffic was calculated for 13 May - 30 May.
How do price changes affect traffic charges?
Example:
Free |
2 GB |
Monthly (recurrent) |
$3 for 1 GB |
Extra (usage) |
$5 for 1 GB |
Billing period |
3 months |
Initially, a user got 2 GBs of free traffic for month.
That was insufficient, so he immediately increased his initial traffic limit
to 4 GBs, buying 2 more.
He was immediately charged $18 (2 GBs x $3 x 3 months) recurrent fee.
Over the first month the user runs up 5 GBs.
It exceeds the traffic limit by 1 GB and the user is charged $5 of usage fee.
The traffic is reset to 0.
On the 10th day of the billing period's second month you change the prices:
Increasing prices
|
Decreasing prices
|
Free |
2 GBs -> 5 GBs |
Free: |
2 GBs -> 1 GB |
Monthly (recurrent) |
$3 -> $4 |
Monthly (recurrent) |
$3 -> $1 |
Extra (usage)
|
$3 -> $6
|
Extra (usage)
|
$3 -> $2
|
By the end of the 2nd month the customer runs up 8 GBs.
|
- Traffic limit remains 4 GBs.
- Recurrent fee isn't recalculated.
- Usage calculations are based on another free 5 GBs (as it covers traffic
limit). $18 usage fee is charged for 3 GBs run over new free 5 GBs.
* Calculations for the 3 month of the billing period are the same as
for the 2nd month.
* At the beginning of a new billing period user isn't charged anything
as recurrent fee, because his traffic limit is less then free.
|
- Traffic limit remains 4 GBs.
- Recurrent fee isn't recalculated.
- $8 usage fee is charged for 4 GBs run over new traffic limit.
* Calculations for the 3 month of the billing period are the same as
for the 2nd month.
* At the beginning of a new billing period user is charged $9 ($1 monthly
x 3 GBs [of his traffic limit that go over 1 free] x 3 months) recurrent
fee.
|
User is displayed 4 GBs of traffic limit and
can increase it to 5 GBs for free. |
User is displayed 4 GBs of traffic limit but
pays monthly for 3 GBs that go over 1 GB free. |
Disk Space Quota
- Free: amount of the disk space you can provide every user under the
plan for free.
- Monthly: payment for each MB of increased disk space quota; charged
at the beginning of each month.
* Note: If the user paid for the increased disk space allocation and hasn't
used it by the end of the month, he isn't refunded!
* All files with the user's ID (even those outside the user's home directory)
are counted as user disk space usage including Transfer, Referrer, Agent
and Error logs that are used for user site's statistics.
How do disk space quota changes affect users?
Increasing Free MBs
|
Decreasing Free MBs
|
- Disk Space Quota won't change in user CP. Please use the Mass Mail
feature to let your users know they can increase disk quota in their
CP to the new Free without being charged Monthly.
* If you are increasing Free in the middle of the month, the user isn't
refunded the payment for additional disk quota MBs that are covered
with the new Free amount.
|
- Disk Space Quota won't change in user CP. But users will be charged
Monthly for each MB of the difference between the new Free and their
Disk Space Quota starting from the next month. Please use the Mass Mail
feature to let your customers know you decreased Free for disk space
quota and if they don't want to be charged for the difference, they
should change their quota to the new Free.
|
To restrict users to a certain amount of disk space they can have, go to your
admin CP -> Plans -> the Resource link next to the
plan edited. Click the Edit icon next to the Disk Space Quota
resource and in the Max field set the maximum amount the users can increase
their disk space quotas to.
E-mail resources
Mailbox
|
Free |
amount on mailboxes a user can create for free |
Setup |
one time payment for each mail box created over the Free limit;
not refunded if the user deletes the mailbox |
Monthly |
recurrent payment for each paid mailbox maintenance; charged
at the beginning of each month or billing period (prorated to its length);
refunded if the user deletes the paid mailbox |
Mailbox quota
|
Free |
the default size for each either paid or free mailbox created |
Monthly |
payment for each MB of increased mailbox initial size, charged
at the beginning of each month or billing period (prorated to its length) |
Tip
To restrict customers to a certain amount of disk space they can use for mail
boxes, go to your admin CP -> Plans -> the Resource
link next to the plan edited. Click the Edit icon next to the Mailbox
resource and in the Max field set the maximum amount of mailboxes the
users can create.
Then click the Edit icon next to the Mailquota resource and in
the Max field set the maximum size of the e-mail box a user can increase
his mailquota to. For example, setting Mailbox Max to 10 and Mailquota
Max to 20 you restrict customers to 200 MB disk space they can use for their
mailboxes.
NOTE: Postmasters and webmasters e-mail boxes are the default ones,
that come with each domain created/added. Postmasters e-mail boxes can't be
deleted, and their quota can't be changed either. Postmaster e-mail boxes aren't
counted as the resource unit and therefore are neither included in free e-mail
boxes nor paid ones. If the user runs out of his free e-mail boxes, adding a
free domain will call charges for compulsory webmasters e-mail box.
My/MS/Posgre SQL DB Quotas
- Free: the default size of each database created; measured in MBs.
E.g. setting Quota Free to 100, each user creating a database will
get 100 MBs for it and won't be charged
- Monthly: payment charged at the beginning of every month or billing
period (prorated to its length) for each MB of increased DB size.
- Extra (applicable for PostgreSQL and MySQL): payment charged
at the end of every month or billing period (prorated to its length) for each
MB used for DBs over the Quota limit.
Tips
- To restrict users to a certain DB quota limit for each DB, go to INFO ->
Plans, click the Resource link, find the MS SQL Quota / MySQL database
quota / PGSQL database quota and click the Edit link next to it.
Then in the Max field set the maximum size of the DB Quota limit (in
MBs) the user can increase it to.
NOTE: you can't restrict the total amount of disk space allocated for user
DBs. Instead you can set the Maximum DB Quota. When DB Quota is over limit,
users are charged Extra fee.
- To restrict users to create only a certain amount of databases,
go to INFO -> Plans, click the Resource link, find the MS SQL
Database / MySQL Database / PGSQL Database and click the Edit link
next to it. Then in the Max field set the maximum amount of databases
the user can create.
Example of how quotas work with the following settings:
Through the Plan Edit Wizard
- MySQL Database
- Free: 1; Setup: $5; Monthly: $2
- MySQL database quota
- Free: 90 MBs; Monthly: $0.1 per MB; Extra $20 per MB.
|
Through the Resource link
- MySQL Database the Max value: 5
- MySQL Database Quota, the Max value: 10
|
In this case user will be able to:
- create one free 90 MBs database;
- increase its quota to 100 MBs and be charged for this $10 each month.
* If the customer uses more then 100 MBs for this database,
he'll be charged $20 extra fee for each MB used over the 100 MBs quota.
- create four more databases, paying $5 setup fee for each, and then $2 for
DB maintenance every month.
- increase each paid database quota to 100 MBs and be charged $10 for this
each month.
* Database quotas and extra charges work the same way
for paid databases as for the free one as it is described above.
IP address
Through plan edit wizard you can define which type of IP (either dedicated
or shared) new users will get by default when registering account with the plan.
The type of the default IP is defined on the first step of plan edit wizard.
Later users can change the type of their IP from their control panel.
On the second step of plan edit wizard you set prices for the dedicated IP (the
Other section) regardless of the IP type designated on the first step.
- Free: amount of dedicated IPs you allow each user create for free.
- Setup: one time payment for each dedicated IP created over the Free
limit.
- Monthly: recurrent fee for maintenance of each paid dedicated IP,
charged at the beginning of each month or billing period (prorated to its
length).
* Changing the default IP type on the first step of plan edit wizard affects
only new users.
Tip
To restrict users to a certain amount of dedicated IPs he can have, go to INFO
-> Plans, click the Resource link, find the IP addressresource
and click the Edit link next to it. Then in the Max field set
the maximum amount of dedicated IPs the user can have.
Example of how dedicated IP settings changes affect existing users.
- Free: 1
- Setup: $3
- Monthly: $1
A user initially got one free dedicated IP for mydomain1.com, then he
added mydomain2.com. It was created with the dedicated IP type. User
was charged $3 setup fee and $1 recurrent fee (IP charges called by domain registration).
Then he added mydomain3.com and was charged the same amount. Then he
switched to the shared IP for mydomain3.com. The user was refunded the
recurrent fee prorated to the time left to the end of the month (see more on
Billing Principles)
Then you change dedicated IP settings.
Free: 1>2
Setup: $3>$2
Monthly: $1>$0.5
|
Free: 1>0
Setup: $3>$4
Monthly: $1>$2 |
- starting from the next billing period the user won't be charged monthly
for mydomain2.com's dedicated IP;
- a new dedicated IP will cost $2 setup + $0.5 each month (or prorated
to the length of the billing period) for its maintenance.
|
- starting from the next billing period the user
will be charged $2 prorated to the length of his billing period for each
of his two dedicated IPs;
- a new dedicated IP will cost now $4 setup + $2 each month (or prorated
to the length of the billing period) for its maintenance. |
