ODBC for Microsoft Access:

In order for a site to be able to use ASP in conjunction with a Microsoft Access database, extensions for the database must be installed on the web server so that they can interact properly. We setup an ODBC System DSN (data source name) which points to a Microsoft Access database file within your site. The database file is placed in a data directory outside of the content directory for security purposes.

You also have the ability to setup an unlimited amount of DSN-less connections to Microsoft Access database files.
